Meet "Quarter Past 8"

Catherine
Catherine’s first guitar came as a gift at the age of six. She learned countless folk and rock songs. She has played numerous lead roles in theatrical productions and has an engaging stage presence. Several years ago she refocused her attention on her first love, music. Her ever present smile showcases her love of performing and people. A clever lyricist, she has written several original songs, which we perform regularly when venue and client appropriate. In 2008 her lyrics, "Rise Up With Pride For Washington" were the winning selection in the University of Washington's "Song of Washington" contest. Those lyrics were put to music by Academy Award and Grammy winning composer Bill Conti. The song was unveiled in September 2008 at a UW fundraising gala and was first played at Husky Stadium in November 2008. As QP8 We perform numerous and varied covers in pop, rock, blues, and country styles. Previous to Quarter Past 8 Catherine was a featured member of another Seattle area working band for several years.
Mike
Mike started playing the trumpet in grade school and continued on to the baritone horn. After a long break from music to attend college, build a career, and raise a family, he pursued a life-long interest in the bass by starting a band with some other musical friends which morphed in the band "Good Anya". He plays and owns electric and upright basses and is comfortable in several musical styles. Mike also plays bass in the band "Storm Creek". He is skilled in sound reinforcement systems and has a project recording studio. He has been characterized as a "pocket bass player" which he acknowledges is his style. He has recorded demo's for several other artists and bands. Mike has considerable live music performance experience having been a member of several other working bands playing at major local and regional venues.
John
John has been playing drums since he was five years old. He started out playing the old time country favorites with his father and friends, forming the band "California Country". He eventually migrated to a very different genre, hardcore heavy metal which he successfully played for several years but has now found his way back to more varied musical fare. John’s a solid drummer with a very steady tempo and is a fun guy to be around to boot. He has a beautiful drum kit with a great sound. John is an audio system designer and installer by trade and also has touring experience with an internationally known rock group where he was involved with the live sound part of their show. He has also been a part of the live sound production at venues as large as The Gorge at George. John also plays drums with the band "Storm Creek" where he and Mike make up the rhythm section.
Tony
Tony brings a unique blend of styles to the band. He cut his guitar playing teeth on blues and eventually moved on to metal. He has been a member of several working bands including classic rock, progressive rock, metal and modern country styles. Tony offers up unique and stylish hooks, riffs, and solos but is truly a guitar race horse and a shredding guitar solo is always lurking just beneath the surface which occasionally come out at opportune times providing great fun for the band and audience. He utilizes interesting chords and unusual progressions in his playing which adds real flavor to his work. He's a serious student of guitar sounds always searching for the perfect tone to express his musical wanderings. He stays close to music in his hobbies of guitar customizing and writing music. Tony also plays in the band "Storm Creek" with Mike and John.
